A Main Street Gem: Far Horizons Celebrates 40 Years

Nestled within the heart of Watertown, Wisconsin, Far Horizons stands as a testament to

enduring passion and community spirit. The business, housed in the historic Charles Goette

building, is a cornerstone of the Main Street Commercial Historic District. Its architectural

significance, characterized by the projecting cornice and round-arched articulated window

hoods, reflects the Italianate style.

As Far Horizons celebrates its 40th anniversary this October, it's also a time to honor the

remarkable journey of its owner, Julie Jones. A Watertown native, Julie has been a beloved

fixture in the community for decades. Her dedication to Far Horizons is a testament to her love for the city and its people.

Far Horizons was founded by Julie Jones in 1984, with the invaluable partnership of her

mother-in-law, Ginny Jones. Together, they created a unique shopping experience, offering a

curated selection of goods worldwide. While Ginny sadly passed away eight years into the

business, Julie continued to carry on their vision, transforming Far Horizons into a cherished

local retail store.

Over the years, Far Horizons has blossomed into a haven for a wider variety of products,

including collectibles and unique finds, mirroring the diverse interests of its patrons.

One of the most enduring aspects of Far Horizons is its commitment to the community. Julie has always been passionate about supporting local businesses and organizations. Her endurance in Main Street Watertown has been instrumental in growing the downtown area.

As Far Horizons thrives, Julie's dedication to her business and community remains unwavering. She is a true inspiration, proving that anything is possible with passion, hard work, and a love for what you do. Cheers to 40 years!
